Introduction to Mountain Navigation Course (1 day)
This one day introductory course is designed to give confidence to venture onto the hills using a map and compass. The day consists of an interactive morning in the classroom followed by the chance to put your new skills into practice on the hills in the afternoon. The course includes:
- Choice of maps
- Map symbols and features
- Taking a grid reference
- Setting a map
- Taking and walking on compass bearings
- Route planning and timing
- Navigational strategies
- Blending map & compass use with modern technologies
